so im getting my nose done on friday (both medical and cosmetic) and the doctor told me to put a cold pack on it. does any one know where i can get cold packs for my nose. also, how am i supposed to shower with the splint on, my shower head is fixed to the wall.. its not removable.

I am having a nose job but I do heal very quickly, could I go back to work after two weeks? My body snaps back after pregnancy and I am fit and active, (but dreading it) Thanks x oh its an open procedure if that helps..

A relative had a nose job last week, within hours they were fine! The splint is a nuisance but pain has been minimal. Carrying on with life as normal just avoiding contact sports etc and hair washing is a challenge but not impossible. Worst thing has been some very rude people staring and commenting when we've been out. Good luck x

I just had a nose job yesterday, and so far it has been very pain-free, and I'm very grateful for that. It's been almost 20 hours since the operation and my nose still feels fairly numb, so my question is, is it going to get worse (the pain) as it loses numbess? Or will the numbing last a long time? Or will the pain medicine cover for that when it loses numbess?

Basically I'm just wondering if it's going to get worse before it gets better, or if since I've been okay for the first 20 hours it's probably going to feel okay for the rest of the week.

My mother had her nose fixed after a very, very bad break. She told me the first 72 hours were very painful, but if yours isn't hurting much now, it should be fine later with pain medicine even if it gets a bit worse. The worst feeling she had was a feeling of mucus dripping down making her feel as though she was choking and a bad headache. (keep in mind this was over 20 years ago, I'm sure surgeries are better now a days) So far I think you've been pretty lucky. The packing might feel the worst though, since you will feel an enormous amount of pressure when it's pulled out, but it is very quick. Unfortunately I hate my nose(terrible break) and this is something I have been considering for a while and your painless experience is something that i'm actually pretty happy about if i go through with mine in about 1-3 years. good luck. i hope it looks great.

They should be. The usual healing time is 2-4 weeks. You can expect to have bruising and swelling, which should be diminished in the first two weeks as long as you are following your Doctor's advice and instructions properly. If you take longer to heal, it could take up to 4 weeks for everything to return to normal, but your surgery should be undetectable by the time you go back to school.

I'm seeing a surgeon on Thursday and I'm a little worried about the recovery. Any thoughts?

My husband had one and I was the "nurse". He wasn't really in pain, but his nose was packed for 3 days and he couldn't breath and sleep because he had to breath out of his mouth. He said it was more annoying then anything.

The length of time of the surgery and the skill of the doctor are major factors. Able to go back to a desk job--about a week, more active work about 2-3 weeks. FULLY healed with all swelling gone, about 6 months.

Based on your own experience and knowledge how many months do I need to recover for nose surgery? I am going to another country and I will be there for about 5 weeks. I will get my surgery there, is that possible? how many months do I have to stay there to recover? need help

I would be very cautious about going overseas to get plastic or cosmetic surgery. I'm not sure if standards of care are different in countries other than the US. It's best to go to a board-certified plastic surgeon regardless.

It takes about:

3-7 days to just stay on the couch with bandages on, and with pain medication.

2 weeks for the major swelling and bruising to go down, and to finally feel comfortable in public.

2-4 months to really start to notice the swelling (that only you-who see yourself in the mirror everyday- will notice) and you will start to really love your new nose.

1 year to finally see the end result that you will live with!

My nose is not in proportion to my face. In other words it's big. People make comments about it all the time. Even my mom. She said if I wanted to get a nose job I could do it in the summer. I'm 15. It brings down my confidence alot. I think if my nose was smaller I'd be otherwise a pretty girl. I want to do the nose job thing but I have severe hospital phobia ever since I was 6 and I completely spazzed b4 I got my wisdom teeth out. I hate needles aswell. But anyways, If anyone had a nose job just tell if you were happy with the results and recovery time and blah blah blah. Thanks.

When I say spazz i mean SPAZZ! Major panic attack and stuff. I almost passed out just visiting my grandmother in the hospital when they put an IV in her arm. Did I mention I HATE IV's.

You will be just fine. While you are going through this surgery keep thinking to yourself about how good you are going to look. The first few days after the surgery will be a little uncomfortable but other than that you should be ok. Good luck and hope everything goes great.
