Ruby Lee's Candied Fruit Cake | Nose To Tail At Home
This is the recipe for Grandma. My last year of high school, my grandfather was ill and unemployed all year, so we had no money for Christmas. Aunt Norvene grandmother gave this recipe and it made a lot of fruit cakes which she sold for a little money. Several of my high school teachers bought cakes because they knew what a good cook grandmother was.
Our family does not eat fruit cake or fruit like (except Grandma) but everyone needs a recipe for fruitcake - it's ours. Seriously, this recipe makes a good fruitcake - if you like.

Make sure your father is in a good mood before asking his opinion thereon. From January 2, 2010, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will provide parents of mixed marriages "flexibility and choice" to decide the race of their child at birth for example, a couple of Chinese-Caucasian may choose to race their child enrolled Caucasian, Chinese or Eurasian. However, if parents are unable to decide on the race of the child during birth registration, the race will be provisionally registered to follow the father (as is current practice), until the child reaches the age of 15 and must enroll in an identity card. In that time, hopefully, the child will some recognizable physical characteristics of either parent. Now that's cause to worry if you actually saw mommy kissing Santa Claus.
This must be one of the strangest decisions made in this decade or century. For reasons of good sense, we assume that the offspring of the marriage will still bear the name of the father. The name, of course, have been used for eons to predict the race and ethnicity.
Understanding the origin of nature and the detailed composition of ethnic groups remains instrumental to the work in school science and social science of human nature. Ethnicity is not easy to define, let alone measure, and assigning ethnicity is considered one of the research concepts most contested and volatile, but it is a necessary evil, not only in social sciences but also in human biology and medical studies.Much research depends on the quality and availability of ethnic classifications is essential for meaningful subdivision of populations and meet the unique cultural needs, dietary and physiological.
Anthropologists have generally divided humans into five distinct classes (Ethiopian, American, Caucasian, Mongolian, Eskimo), although the merger, climatic influences, and various other developments, such as air travel budget, have blurred the sharp lines in many cases. If not for cosmetic Voodoo, Michael Jackson has been known to jet black skin, black, crisp, curly hair, flat, broad nose, large and small chin, strong, white teeth. Jackie Chan May kick ass in Hollywood, but he will never have hair or eyes of all shades, full beard, flexible and fluid, high nose and thin lips and medium-sized businesses. Zhang Ziyi is still beautiful, but not in the way Pamela Anderson....
Ruby Lee's Peanut Brittle | Nose To Tail At Home
This recipe is actually my Aunt Zelda’s, but my grandmother loved it so much I have no qualms with calling it hers. As a matter of fact, the last few months of her life my grandmother would sneak a small piece every day. She wasn’t allowed to eat sweets by her doctor, but she didn’t care. The brittle was one of her vices and she wasn’t going to give it up for anyone. Right after she passed away, my Aunt Carrie was cleaning her room when they found her stash of peanut brittle. It turns out she was eating the brittle my wife had made for her as part of her Christmas gifts.
It makes me happy knowing that we were able to give her a little bit of comfort every day.

blew my nose too hard after I used the neti pot?
I was a little busy lately, and itching so that the last two nights, I use the Neti pot. I never blow my nose right after, but few minutes later, it slipped my mind and not blowing as steady, closing one nostril with a lot of pressure. Now, I feel dizzy and secure, and I can not move his head without feeling dizzy. Any suggestions on how to mitigate this?
Does the neti pot that you stick up your nose help sinus pressure?
My brother suggested I use a Neti pot when I complained of severe sinus pressure.
From what I understand is basically a teapot and poured a solution into the nose and out the other side of your nose and sinuses drains.
Does this work? Have you all used? Does it make you feel better?
I can not manage a Neti pot, but I do this.My husband uses this technique to keep getting bronchitis when he gets a sinus infection, and I used to cure sinus infections. There are several types of bacteria that live in the sinuses, which gets rid of all bad!. It's the only thing that really helped me --- my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill the bacteria.
you need
distilled water
Sea salt
Liquid chlorophyll and colloidal silver in the health food store.
in a mixing glass 1 / 4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature.
Add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix.
using a dropper large (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull on one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn your head and let it drain on the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels. or simply use a Neti pot, I like that better.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are hundreds of guys who can live in the sinus cavities and anti antibiotics do not get rid of them all.
To do this twice a day for one week, stirring the mixture fresh each time.
Then do once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in what hurts you, and it cured me.
I did not take Claritin or more antibiotics.
Does the Neti pot for nose irrigation really work? And what about the salt?
What if you have high blood pressure and are supposed to stay away from salt...ty.
Yes, the Netipot actually works. I equate it to cleaning out broom bristles with a hose. The broom will clean better when it is clean, your nose will work better when your nasal hairs are free to catch allergens.
As for the salt, salt won't really be absorbed by your nasal passages and only a very insignificant amount will trickle down your throat. So, no need to worry there.

I doubt such a tiny amount of salt is going to hurt you.
Dry sinuses this winter. Always trying to clear nose. Neti pot?
I have dry sinuses in the winter. I work from home in the winter. So ive basically been dormant all winter staying inside in the heat. I thik this caused some dry nasal pasages. The dryness causes me eye strain and headaches. Any remedies? I think im going to purchase a neti pot online . Anybody like using that?
I like the Ocean nasal spray better. It now comes in this can where it spurts out a single dose and it can't get contaminated. If you get "Ocean complete" you get 2 caps for the sprayer one for sinus irrigation and one for moisturizing.

Does anyone know where I can buy a nose bidet or neti pot in London? It's to wash out the sinuses.?
Hi,
On Oprah I saw the use of a nose bidet or neti pot. It helps to clean the sinuses. Does anyone know where I can buy one in London? Thanks so much, and thanks for answering other questions I had.

Would it hurt my nose if I put chamomile in my neti pot?
I know I probably shouldn't be doing experiments, but my nose is super dry and I feel like the salt mixture is making dryer, does anyone have any suggestions for another solution I could use to clean my nose? I have pollen allergies...
Thank you!
Be careful adding anything other than non-iodized salt and baking soda to water when using a nasal rinse.
Though salt can 'dry' your sinuses, it can also 'rebound'. That's when the salt pulls out all the fluid, therefore temporarily clearing and drying the sinuses, but the high-saline solution also irritates the lining, which causes the body to react by...that's right...producing mucus. So you end up with a stuffier nose.
To clear out the pollen, stick with a solution that is closely matched to your body's chemistry (in both saline and pH level), and just flush out the foreign matter.

Ive tried using the neti pot for my nasal allergies but doesn't work, maybe because my nose is stuffed?
So can someone help, my nose hurts and feels dry!
I have suffered with allergies forever. I tried everything you can thing of, nothing works. This year was the worst summer I remember having. I first heard of a neti pot a few days ago. The first 2 times I used it, nothing happened. I wasn't able to get the water through my other nostril. My sinus would fill with the saline solution, and drip though the same nostril. Finally after blowing, after each try, my left nostril cleared a little, not a lot just a little. I tried using the neti pot for the third time, by the way I was doing it one right after the other, half way through, I blew my left nostril. This part is disgusting, all of a sudden was like the white part of a raw egg was coming out of my nose. There was just a lot of mucus in my sinus, but it finally washed out. I then repeated the irrigation, through the left nostril this time. It's been 3 days, I use the neti pot 3 times a day. These were the best 3 days I can remember. I haven't had a clogged nose since, and my nose has been stuffed from the end of May of this year. I can't wait until Monday morning, when I go for my next allergy shot. All the prescriptions the doctor gave me, nothing worked. I find, by accident, a $12.00 neti pot and it was the world of relief.
My point to all this, just keep using it until the saline solution flows through without blockage through both nostrils. Once that happened, you will see a world of difference. I wish I knew about a neti pot the beginning of the summer, because I really suffered this summer.
PS I tried Zyrtec, Claritin, several prescription drugs. The only one that gave me a little relief was Afrin, but very little.
Stick with the neti pot until it flows easily, like I said. You will feel like a million bucks, once you clear out the clog, and unlike the medication, you clog won't come back shortly after.
My sinuses are blocked. I tried using a Neti Pot & the water won't go through my nose. Are my sinuses swollen?
I tried the Netti Pot the other day when I was clear and it worked fine. My nose is completely stuffed and I don't really have any mucus. I was baffled when the water wouldn't move through my nose. What's going on... should I head to the Dr or take some Ibuprofen for swelling? I am allergic to decongestants like Sudafed.
You could just be that congested. You can also try putting a bit of a menthol rub on the nose to see if that will help to open you up. My ENT suggested I try rotating ice packs and heat to loosen the mucous (if any) or swelling in the nasal/sinusus area. If the turbunates are that inflamed in the upper part of the nasal passage the ice may help relieve the inflamation. Once it is beginning to move then use the warm salt water and the Netti Pot.
I ran out of saline solution from my neti pot? What can I use to wash my nose?
Like what is the mixure of salt and baking soda. How much of each?
Salt water. 1-2 teaspoons of salt. No baking soda.
When I use a neti pot (1 x) it hurt like hell and felt like water up my nose when swmming. What's up?
Yes, I used regular ole tap warm tap water. Should I use salt water?
Did you just use plain water? You need to use salt water or else it will hurt. It does feel kind of odd, but it isn't supposed to hurt.
Why is it that some *BEAR* likes to stick his nose in a honey pot that it doesn't belong in?
Yes, I think I may have a stalker. He seems intent on answering every question I ask, in an antagonistic manner.
I really wish he would move on, and answer someone else's question with his all-knowing wisdom.
In other words....I'm getting BEAR-y sick of his crap. And, he has the nerve to call ME obsessive! Ha!

Nose spray in a neti pot?
I have had severely clogged ears for two years. I have chronic sinusitis and a deviated septum. I am looking for a way to unclog the ears before I resort to tubes or slicing.
I just read about putting a few drops of the phenylephrine hydrochloride nose spray into a neti pot and swishing it around in the sinuses.
My question is, is swishing nose spray laced saline around in your head dangerous?
I have never heard of doing it that way...but I don't think it would be too harmful. But what I recommend is getting those little packets called SinuCleanse and use 1/2 of a packet in the neti pot. I do it everyday and I love it. It will probably help with your ear situation, too. My sinusitis caused my ears to be clogged. I finally ended up getting sinus surgery and a full on rhinoplasty to fix my septum. Best decision I ever made...
Nose bidet/neti pot in the Philippines?
hi guys, does anybody here in Manila knows where I can buy a nose bidet or neti pot? Much thanks!
You can order them online. I just ordered one yesterday. Type in "neti pot" in your searchbar and take your pick!
i just used those sinus rinse things - netti pot and it popped my ear when i blew my nose and now really hurts
it feels as though i need to pop my ear .. if that makes sense...do this happen when you use those netti pot things?
I don't have a ear infection i got it checked yesterday at doctors!
You are not supposed to blow your nose that hard, you are supposed to let the stuff drain out. Then after a few minutes you can blow it gently.
My husband uses this to keep from getting bronchitis, and I use to to cure sinus infections. THere are many kinds of bacteria that live in the sinuses, and this gets rid of all the bad ones!.This is the only thing that really helped me --- my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria.

using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels handy.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don't get rid of them all.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time.
Then do it once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me.
I do not have to take claritin, or antibiotics anymore.

Nose Bleeds/Nettie Pot?
Hi I live in michigan. My mother and I have nasal problems. My mother has nose bleeds frequently. She had surgery a few years ago where the doctor removed nasal polyp and ever since she'll get these really bad nose bleeds sometimes. I think the doctor told her to get a humidifier and lube her nose with Vaseline. I guess it helps but not really. I guess my questions is would it be helpful for her to try a Nettie pot or would that make things worse? As for me one nostril is usually clearer than the other at one given time. The doctor gave me nasal sprays but that mess doesn't help. I guess another question is do Nettie pots really work?
Another option your mom can discuss with her doctor is having her nose cauterized. The nose is very vascular(which means you have alot of blood vessels in your nose) Cauterizing means to burn. Sometimes it will only take one time but sometimes it may take two. The humidifier will help keep her nose moist so it won't get dry and crack and bleed. We call the winter, nosebleed season. The Vaseline will also help moisten her nose. Now, the Nettie pot is good but now they have a bunch of great new products on the market to rinse the sinuses out. AYR is one of them. What the Nettie pot does is it will keep her sinuses clean. You might also benefit from this. What the Nettie pot will do is wash out any pollen, allergens or infection you have in your nose. If those three are left in your nose you are setting yourself up for a sinus infection. A recipe for saline that you can use in the Netti pot is 1/4 cp of salt & 1/4 cup of baking soda to a quart of water. This way it will be near the same ph you have in your body. Good luck!!
Picking up a fallen over pot, twigs scrape my mouth and nose - germs?
I was outside on the patio picking up a fallen over pot of green beans when the bits that had been on the floor scrapped my mouth, since these had been on the floor should i worry?
You're probably fine, though tetanus shots are often given, if you're not up to date, if you've pierced your skin with something likely to infect you.
There's a little information here that explains somewhat. http://www.nj.com/homegarden/garden/inde x.ssf/2008/08/gardeners_get_your_tetanus _sho.html
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
How come a neti pot doesn't hurt like water going up your nose?
I believe it's because you're supposed to use a salt water solution in the Neti pot. The regular water causes irritation. It also irritates if you use cold water or hot water. It needs to be room temp.
Has anyone used a nose bidet or neti pot and if so was it painful?
I use a neti pot with salt water to irrigate my nose. I have nasal allergies and this helps in the spring and fall when I am most affected. I also use it when a cold hits and it clears out all the gunk, which shortens my cold time.
Does it hurt? Well, it's like getting some salt water up your nose, but if you don't mix the water well, it can sting.
Is it uncomfortable? Not really, other than the weird angle you have to contort to get it to run through correctly. Also, be careful not to tip your head back--so you don't swallow the salt water! Eck!
Does it feel weird? Yes, a bit, you're running water through your nose. It's not the most graceful process to go through, but it really really helps you feel better.
BTW, I bought a box of SinuCleanse packets at Walgreens for the correct amount of salt and because it was just easier.
where can i buy a neti pot or a nose bidet here in manila, philippines?
I saw a neti pot at the pharmacy At Walmart.
