redefiningdivorce: MAKING CHANGES

The only thing that is required of you is a real desire for change - everything else will your commitment to health and happiness. Without this commitment, however, all your steps towards better health will be severely limited in their scope and effectiveness.Buying a membership at a health club or piece of exercise equipment, and you stop using it after a month because you "simply can not find time", or start buying healthy, fresh ingredients to prepare nutritious meals and you will be back to fast food or dine-in-a-box in a few days, try to quit smoking or drinking and you fall off the car as soon as the situation is complicated. Find out what motivates you, then use it to inspire you. The secret of success in the long term seems to boil down to two main factors: motivation and support.Fear can sometimes be very rewarding - for example, your uncle died of lung cancer and you stop smoking - but this is often not sufficient to cause a permanent change. According to Dr. Andrew Weil, author of eight weeks to Optimum Health and Spontaneous Healing, you must first identify the pay-offs, and costs of a specific behavior to change. For example, say you love rich foods high in fat. You know your father - who ate the same way you do now - died of a heart attack at age 50, and you have high blood pressure and bad knees, the 40 extra pounds of fat you wear.Obviously, you should change your eating habits. But you can not resist a double portion of Fettuccine Alfredo followed by a chocolate eclair. "I had a rough day, you think. "I deserve this food delicious - and it makes me feel so good!" The satisfaction of eating the foods you love outweighs the fear of dying from a heart attack like your father. And unless the benefits outweigh the costs, you will not be able to change your eating habits....

The inside of the nose is composed of 2 nasal cavities separated by a septum and 3 pairs of cones bulges (upper, middle and bottom) bone in the walls of the nasal cavities. The nasal cavities are mostly passages for breathing, performing other functions such as olfaction, warming and humidifying the inhaled air and filter extraneous to him.

The external nose, the structure considered as a projection on the face, is largely composed of a framework of bone and cartilage to give its rigid form.

Rhinoplasty and Nasal Bone

The nasal bones are two plates of bone forming the upper part of the skeleton of the nose, reaching the point where the nose joins the forehead. They are arranged like the covers of a book open and partially reversed in the face, back of the book corresponding to the spine of the nose.

The nasal bones are very important to give form and structure in the upper half of the nose. They may be fractured by a blow or impact on traffic or sports accidents and require correction.

There are two pairs of cartilages contribute to the contour of the lower half of the nose. They are:

Upper lateral cartilages, lower lateral cartilage

The upper lateral cartilages are arranged like a pair of wings, just below the nasal bone. The flat surfaces located on either side of the lower half of the nose, giving it shape.

The structure of the lower lateral cartilages is more complex, each cartilage consists of a thin, lower right and a wing-like part bent above. This pair is arranged with their meager portions straight all the columella of the nose, part of the nose just above the upper lip, separating the nostrils. The wing-like parties differ on top to spread on both sides. Nose reshaping is intended to produce a more attractive nasal shape and/or a nose in better proportion to other facial features. Rhinoplasty is most often done on an outpatient basis under sedation, and local or general anesthesia. Your plastic surgeon will decide which of the following techniques should be used.

The standard rhinoplasty is performed by incisions being made inside the nostrils. The nasal bones, cartilage, and soft tissues are reshaped to improve the external contour.

The open rhinoplasty is frequently used for difficult or larger noses. It involves one external incision across the columella (strut between the nostrils). Bones, cartilage, and soft tissues are reshaped under direct vision.

Tip-plastiy is only used if the nasal tip is abnormal, it may be corrected with either a standard or external (open) approach.

Large nostrils may be reduced through tiny incisions at the outer base of the nostrils with either type of rhinoplasty.

After a nasal surgery procedure is performed the patient most often goes home with an external cast or splint in place. The nose may be packed for twenty-four to forty-eight hours. The cast or splint is usually removed in seven to ten days. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. The majority of swelling and bruising subsides progressively over the first two to four weeks. External sutures (if any are used) are removed in four to six days. Internal sutures will dissolve naturally.

The semi-final result of a nose reshaping procedure is evident in three months. The final result is evident in twelve to fourteen months. An additional procedure that may enhance the result is a chin augmentation. If you need to improve your breathing, correction of a deviated septum (Septoplasty) may also be appropriate.

Rhinoplasty is not covered by insurance if being done for cosmetic reasons. If however, the nasal deformity is due to recent injury, insurance coverage may be available. Pre-authorization information can be obtained from your insurance company.
